The Children's House Team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas
and
a Happy New Year.
Please Note: The Children's House will be closed over the festive season from the 22nd December 2011 until the 4th January 2012.
My Children's House has been developed to assist our learners to easily and flexibly achieve relevant professional qualifications and further develop their professional skills. The system enables learners to embark upon qualifications and professional development in an accessible manner. Systems are personalised and carefully designed to achieve very differing career and registration objectives.
The Childrens House was founded by Kathlyn Taylor, in 1992 when National Vocational Qualifications were developed to enable the recognition of competence in Scottish Childcare Centres. The Children's House staff pride themselves on the training, support, qualification and advice given to those professionals who work with young children.
Since the inception of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), those working in Childhood Practice are required to register according to the responsibility of their position, as a Manager, Practitioner or Support Worker and ensure that they acquire appropriately recognised qualifications. The Children's House is accredited with Scottish Qualifications Authority and City and Guilds to deliver those qualifications which are currently recognised by SSSC. Staff at the Children's House work with employers and practitioners in flexible partnerships which enable an individualised and thorough approach to professional development.
Staff at The Children's House are well informed and willing to help prospective learners develop and pursue an exciting and relevant career path.

Kathlyn Taylor of The Children's House gave the opening address and the guest speakers on the evening were Barbara Dale, the external verifier for the new SQA PDA Childhood Practice at SCQF level 9 qualification and John Robertson, the Business Manager for City & Guilds in Scotland. The emotive closing speech was given by Gillian Donald who heads up Stronachs' Employment Law Unit and is the dedicated mother of a son who attends The Hamilton School. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Mr Terry Taylor.
The evening concluded with a champagne reception in which the successful candidates were joined by friends and family to celebrate their success.
The second of a series of events was held on the 8th August 2011 at The Hamilton School in Queen's Road Aberdeen. The evening was a great success and gave prospective Modern Apprentices the opportunity to embark on a career in Childcare Practice.
