The Childrens House was founded by Kathlyn Taylor, in 1992 when National Vocational Qualifications were developed to enable the recognition of competence in Scottish Childcare Centres.  The Children's House staff pride themselves on the training, support, qualification and advice given to those professionals who work with young children.

Since the inception of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in March 2004, those working in Childhood Practice are required to register according to the responsibility of their position, as a Manager, Practitioner or Support Worker and ensure that they acquire appropriately recognised qualifications.  The Children's House is accredited with Scottish Qualifications Authority and City and Guilds to deliver those qualifications which are currently recognised by SSSC.  Staff at the Children's House work with employers and practitioners in flexible partnerships which enable an individualised and thorough approach to professional development.
