currently works in partnership with employers and owners of a number of Childcare settings who are committed to the development of excellence in their centres. Through the improvement of the quality of the workforce, such partnerships enable the quality of experiences for the children in our care to be of the highest standard.

is most willing to work with employers who wish to enter into partnership to develop their employees through the deliverance of Nationally recognised qualifications and short courses or workshops to support Continuing Professional Development.

What criteria must an employer meet in order to become accredited?

Accredited employers must be able to meet the learning needs of the Learner/Employee as required, in order to achieve or evidence suitable competence. Settings will be committed to the development of their workforce and must suitably support their learners with workplace induction and ongoing training. Accredited employers must be in a position to offer a suitably qualified, experienced and competent Mentor who can guide and advise the learner. Accredited employers will also be able to offer a suitably varied and acceptable working environment which has been inspected by HMIe and/or Care Commission as appropriate.

How does an employer become accredited?

Who will fund Qualifications and/or Continuing Professional Development events?

The cost of qualifications, short courses and events is available by contacting . There are a number of sources and methods which will support the journey towards Qualification and/or Continuing Professional Development as detailed below:

Employees themselves are welcome to enter into a private arrangement with to finance their own Qualification and CPD with the agreement and accreditation of their employer. Such arrangements can be phased to ensure the financial viability is possible. is happy to enter into a tripartite arrangement with Employers and Employees, provided that the roles and responsibilities of each party is clearly defined.

Who is responsible for the training of Employees?

Training for competence is the responsibility of all involved in the process.

provides mandatory Tutorial Events which support knowledge and understanding for Learners to ensure that research and critical reflection underpin workplace practice. Six hourly Tutorial Events are held on timetabled topics which can be accessed through attendance on two Wednesday evenings on a monthly basis. Distance learning for those who are geographically remote can be arranged. Employers are responsible for their employees induction and practical training in the workplace. They must ensure that there is a sufficiently high standard of training and resources to meet the assessment requirements of the Awarding Bodies. Employers must take responsibility for the attendance of their employees at Tutorial Events which are mandatory. Learners/Employees are responsible for their attendance at Tutorial Events, their competence in the workplace and the self-implementation of a thorough process of independent research and study.

Can I access Qualifications without an Accredited Employer?
